Diversity Presents: Mitch Brown

Hey guys. Mitch and myself filmed this video about a month ago over the course of a few weekends. We were going to use it for Vital but we both liked the original version better than the cut down Vital version. So here it is for you to enjoy. Diversity Presents: Mitch Brown...

Liam Fahy-Hampton Goodness

Saw some clips with a chain in there. Giving Liam a chain is like giving a heavyweight boxer metal gloves in a fight against a schoolgirl. What the fuck am I on about? Via Colony, Backbone and Sam Filmer. :)

Diversity X Dishonour Video Competition

Hey guys. Firstly, sorry about the lack of posts over the last few weeks. Been super busy and this last week especially has been pretty hectic. Hopefully I can get back into a routine after the silly season is over...

James Wade from Dishonour has been kind enough to send over some prizes for a Diversity/Dishonour collaborative video comp. For those of you who haven't heard of Dishonour, it's a fresh as fuck rider owned clothing company straight out of Adelaide.

The rules are simple, produce a video section over 90 seconds in length. The theme of the video comp is "diversity" so thats what I'll be looking for in a video. Depending on the quality of the entries I might even leave it up to you guys to decide.

The prizes include 2 Fresh Dishonour Tees, 2 Dishonour Long-Sleeves, a bunch of stickers, but most importantly a Dishonour New Era hat. These bad boys are super limited (only 50 were produced) and this is one of the last ones left. Jealous that I have to give it away.

The entries close on January 19th. Just send me your full name and a youtube/vimeo/redtube link to the video entry. You must live in Australia to enter the competition.

Ok, thats it. Get those cameras rolling!

Jake Arndell

Brett Trigg sent this cool little video he filmed and edited of 16 year old Jake Arndell.

Berly and Toby

Berly Tanner sent in this edit of himself and Toby Polkinghorne riding Carine skatepark in Perth.

Chris Courtenay

Chris Courtenay sent in this dialled edit of himself over the last week or so. Chris gets exponentially better every time I see him ride. The last trick is bananas.

Brock Beadman

Brock Beadman sent in this edit of himself shredding Grafton in NSW. Justy and I actually slept in my car in Grafton and rode the skatepark at 6 in the morning.

Sam's Jump Off

Sam Wood sent in this awesome video of himself destroying street and some parks. So stoked on this. YEAAAAAHHHHHHHH.

FTR Online

Hey guys. I've been working hard today with the guys from ForTheRiders to get their online store up and running. It's going to be a while until the product database is completely built because we have to input each item individually but it's coming along nicely and you can order stuff from it now. Be sure to check out the new Colony Endeavours which arrived today. Can you say dialled?

Click here to check it out. Theres more than a few bargains on there...

I'm using this photo of Evan because he's a bloody legend!

Thugsty and Beast's East Coast Adventure

As promised heres the edit from Justy and my trip down south. It's pretty chill so don't be expecting too many bangers... until Shane Conlon's clips anyway. Big thanks to anyone who said g'day and had a yarn. I'm keen to do another one already! Enjoy...

Flemington Banks Jam

Spotted this awesome edit on the Sleepwalkers vimeo.
Check out their blog while you're at it.

Merbein scene

Tess Hards from a little town in Victoria called Merbein sent in this awesome little video of some of the local crew. That skatepark and backyard ramp setup look so much fun. Good work guys.

Back in Action

Hey guys. Back from my little roadtrip. Headed all the way down to Port Maquarie and had heaps of fun. Keep your eyes peeled for an edit very soon.

Check out this edit of Tempered Bikes' Matt Lawton and Jack Birtles destroying a ghetto rail.

Hey guys, setting out on a roadtrip today with Justy. We're heading down south along the east coast so if you see a big hairy man with glasses and a male model on a purple bike be sure to say g'day.

I'll try and keep the site updated as frequently as possible, not making any promises though...

Let it Ride.

Benny Olsen Edit

Benny Olsen sent in this video of him riding a few parks in Melbourne before his bike got stolen. Hope you get it back mate.

Mags, mags, mags...

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts. It seems that 3 of the major Aussie BMX mags have all been released in quick succession again which is weird but good for us I guess. An Aussie BMX eclipse.

First is the new FocalPoint.

Cover boy for this issue is style cat, Lee Mans, who scores an interview. Alongside him in the pages are Josh Collins and Beechy, as well as a bunch of underground bios including a very unique Robbo interview and a look into the lives of a few dedicated park riders. There is a feature on what goes on behind-the-scenes at Colony BMX, I talk to Troy Charlesworth about the release of his new video, Epic Invasion, and we shine a light on the controversial Bendigo Trail Jam. Most importantly, however, this issue pays tribute to some of our close friends who’s lives were tragically cut short – it is to them that this issue is dedicated.
Issue 15 holds more content than ever and when you add in some nice giveaways, you have yourself a very solid issue of Focalpoint. Enjoy!

Next up is the new Rebelyell which I am very excited about...

Rebelyell issue 7 (Crap Issue)

First ever full interview with the Drainkids
Thrash for Cash Drains Jam - Beer, Fire and Mayhem
Shit talking Bio's - Lets talk shit!
Rampfest VIP night - first official in-depth photo coverage and behind the scene's story of Australia's newest and largest indoor BMX park.
Plus much much more.....
The new STEADFAST issue 2 DVD is also included with this issue - FREE!!!!

And then there's the new 2020 that I had a read of at the shop. Seems like there's a lot more content than usual. I can't find the cover on the net but it looks real good. BMXpress shouldn't be too far off either so make sure you check that out for an interview I shot with my boy Mitch Brown.

Andrew Buckworth

Check out this sweet video of Aussie Andrew Buckworth riding Woodward. Kid has progressed so much since I first saw him at HMH a while back. I think he did his first whip air there? Now he's doing triples. What's the world coming to?

Jeff Bahr The Second

I'm really digging this video. Kid is awesome and you can never go wrong with Biggie.

New Colony Colourways

Colony have lots of product updates and heaps of fresh new colourways on their site. Lookin awesome. Treat yourself for Christmas maybe? Polished Teddy bars please Santa!

Alter BMX

Rene Mans sent in this cool little video via email. Good shit. If you've got a video you'd like to see up here swing me an email at diversitybmx@gmail.com.

Steadfast Issue 2

This is sick. Look out for the full DVD free with the next issue of Rebelyell.

Dishonour News

James Wade let me know about the new Dishonour New Eras that he has in. Lookin freeeeeeesh. You can grab one for $45 on the online store or a hat and a shirt for $60. Bargain. Be quick though because its only a limited run of 50 hats and I know they'll be gone soon.

Also get your cameras rolling for a Dishonour x Diversity video competition. More details soon.

Colony in Cali video

Colony Videos Ahoy!

Colony has been posting alot of awesome videos lately, the latest one being the epic video of Liam Fahy-Hampton from around a year or so ago. Be sure to also check out this video of Simon O'Brien riding his new signature Colony frame, the DejaVu as well as all the other videos from the last 12 months on the Colony Vimeo.

Josh Irvine's Blackeye Killarado Review

Copied this review from the infamous Josh Irvine straight from my email:

Can you post this for me please its the new Blackeye Killarado
Well the new blackeye Killarado Frames are in Australia and avaliable at all good bikeshops wieghing in at 4.10 pounds and as strong as an OX also it is a low set frame..I had my doubts running such a low frame but after seeing how popular they were in the states i thought i would run one..Now this being a low set frame makes it so easy to whip also to spin 360 and 720 also it just feels so good to ride and not only is it good to ride but it looks pretty sweet nearlly as sweet as lemon marang.so if your aftera new frame for christmas try one of these frames...

Frame 21inch blackeye killarado
Forks verde
Bars Prototypes
Stem Odyssey cfl
Cranks Macanik 175mm
Disc macanik 25t
Pedal odyssey twisted
Seat/seatpost DUO guns
Front wheel Snafu with Hazard lite
Rear wheel snafu with hazard lite
Tyres Duo foldable
Grips Duo scotty cranmers
Chain KMC 410h
Pegs DrogonFly Ti
Brakes None
Mods cut axles and seat post also hollo bolts...

Spelling mistakes and lame puns aside, I think the frame looks pretty sweet. Am I the only one that actually thinks these low slung frames look good? Let me know what you think in the comments.

In Latin, Defero means community, and community is the perfect word to describe the scene that this new Australian BMX DVD series will showcase. Based out of Melbourne, Defero is headed up by Cooper Brownlee (FocalpointBMX) and Chris ‘Flagz’ Matthews (Peazant/B-Town) with the aim of producing quality, fun DVD’s that perfectly represent the Australian BMX community.

I am sooooooo stoked on this. The trailer is amazing. Click here to read more about the project. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks Coop for the heads up.

Ryan Guettler Interview

Clint uploaded this old interview of Ryan Guettler from the first Hindsight DVD. I remember being young and so stoked on that DVD and interview. Ahh the good old days. Check it out.

More David Girsch

Both Allan Hardy and David sent me this video. Its a new section of David Girsch, the 16 year old shredder from Cairns. From the looks of it he's progressed a lot since the last one. Be sure to check it out.

Old Footage

Weirdest thing just happened on youtube. As soon as this had finished uploading I got an email from youtube saying that it had infringed copyright because of the song (Mos Def - New World Water). So I either had the option of muting it, replacing the audio track with one of their songs or deleting it entirely. Pretty lame. I ended up picking from their song list because I cant be fucked re-uploading it. Has this happened to anyone else? If this is going to become a regular occurrence I might have to start using Vimeo more often.

Anyway this is some real old footage I had laying around on my hard drive that I wanted to get rid of. Riders are Nate Headon, myself, Cheezy and Matt Devine, who's been dying to see these clips for ages. Haha sorry Matt...

Tempered Web Vid, Part 2

Part 2 of the Tempered video is here! I love Justy!

Monster Update...

Hey guys. Sorry about the lack of updates. Had a pretty full on weekend.

Stewart's DVD premiere for These Days was a great night and the video turned out amazing. Be sure to check back for my review when I get a copy.

Logan Village comp was a good day. Had a few platinums and represented the "Old School" (don't think Tim Wood realises my age) in the high hop comp. Props to my homie, Mr 108cms, Corey Mansinger on winning the hop comp and to Nick Cooper for shredding the comp and winning the $1000. Check out some pictures on Ozscene.

The B-Town Jam was on the weekend and was apparently a good day until the firefighterfighter incident. I read about it on FocalPoint and was pretty disappointed. Saw it on the news tonight which really disgusted me. I guess jams are gonna be pretty much a bust for a while now. Thanks to whoever gave the footage to the news as well, legend.

Chris Courtenay has a video on Vital. I can't get the embed code for it so you'll have to follow this link.

Tempered have some cool photos from their recent Mackay trip which you can check out here.

Also my man Matt Dodd, who you can check out in some diversity videos, dislocated his knee at Kuraby and did some serious damage which will probably need surgery. A big get well from me Doddy! On the positive I got to drive this to the hospital.

That's it for now, more soon!

bunny hop - get it?

Emmet and Timmy

Emmet sent in this sweet edit of himself and Timmy riding Helensvale. Have my babies Timmy!

Hey guys. There's a comp on at Logan Village skatepark on Sunday. Not too sure on many details but I do know that first place is $1000 cash. Should be interesting.

Clint has a shitload of updates on the Colony site about his trip to America that are definitely worth checking out.

Cooper has uploaded some photos on FocalPoint from the recent Spinal Disorder in Melbs which I hear was pretty gnarly. Peep them here. There's also some info on a few jams coming up. A flatland Jam in West Oz and the Halloween Jam

FocalPoint Park Video

My jaw is on the floor. This video is fucking amazing! The FocalPoint guys mixing it up a bit and putting out an all park edit. Thanks Cooper. Be sure to check out the trailer for the new FocalPoint DVD if you haven't already.

TemperedBikes Mackay Trip video

Check out this awesome video from the TemperedBikes team trip to Mackay for the second Flatline Jam.

It seems the BMX community just can't take a break lately.

From FocalPoint:
New Zealand/Melbourne all round nice guy Tim Hales sadly past away today. Tim was a fantastic person who always had a smile on his face. Tim would always wow us when he rode city park going twice as fast as most people hitting anything in his path, I think thats how Tim lived life. My deepest sympothy goes out to all the Anchor crew along with Tim's friends and family in New Zealand. You can pay your respects here.

My condolences to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Tim and to his closest friends and family. AnchorBMX and ZombieBMX have some tributes on their sites that you should check out. R.I.P brother.

-Mitch :(

2 Days with Josh Mannion

Jaimee Proietti sent me the link to his youtube channel. It's of a bunch of guys who go by the name of Civil BMX who seem to be having fun shredding the streets of Brisbane. Maybe the next generation Drainkids? Anyway I'm really stoked on this video of Josh Mannion, who I've never heard of but is one of the most well rounded riders I've seen in a while.

David Girsch Section

G'day guys. Back in Brissie from my holiday and also back to reality. This video waiting in my inbox definitely made it worth it though. 16 year old David Girsch from Cairns (who I think is the guy who did the 3 whip hop a while back?) sent in this awesome section of himself. I was really enjoying the vid and then the music got a bit harder and the video got gnarlier. Check it out.

Edit: Apparently the section I had up was an unfinished section from a North Queenland Scene DVD called Adaptions. Allan Hardy, who made the video was nice enough to let me keep it up and even sent in the finished version. Cheers Allan. Check out the Adaptions website here or the download the trailer here.

Clash for Cash

Shaun Jarvis from West Oz sent me the flyer for this event thats going down called "Clash for Cash" (why does that sound familiar?). Haha. Sounds like it will be a good day. Click the flyer to see it bigger.
